Shady Cosgove

Shady Cosgrove is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Wollongong, with teaching interests in prose fiction and editing. Her most recent novel What the Ground Can’t Hold (Picador Australia, 2013) is about a group of people trapped in the Andes, who all have links to Argentina’s Dirty War. Cosgrove’s memoir She Played Elvis (Allen and Unwin 2009) was shortlisted for the Australian Vogel Prize and follows her experiences busking across the United States to Graceland for the twenty-fifth anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. Her shorter works have appeared in journals Southerly, Overland, Antipodes as well as collections Best Australian Stories, Small Wonder, Flashing the Square and Out of Place. She was the judge for the Joanne Burns Award in 2014 and has received a Humanities Research Centre Fellowship.
